US pest control firm sets up facilities in south
US-based pest-control product company Dutch & Habro International has set its foot in the Indian market by launching a range of products plus setting up a manufacturing facilities at Vellore in Tamil Nadu besides in Hyderabad. T
It has invested Rs 12.5 crore in setting up these plants that will manufacture mosquito coils. It is also scouting for properties in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh to set up additional facilities and set aside Rs 25 crore for the additional outlay, Dutch & Habro International GM (marketing) M Mohandas said in Chennai on Saturday.
The size of the mosquito repellent market in India (both coil and liquid destroyers together) is estimated at Rs 1,300 crore. Some of the leading brands in the market include Reckitt Benckiser���s Mortein, Godrej SaraLee���s brands like Good-Knight, Jet and Jumbo, apart from Jyothy Labs��� Maxo and SC Johnson���s Allout.
The company hopes to garner a 3-5% share of the pest control market (Rs 475 crore) in the south by March 2011. By FY11, it is targeting a Rs 20 crore turnover from its Indian operations. The company���s global turnover stood at Rs 100 crore at the end of March 2010.
