Tata Chemicals Haldia plant faces indefinite strike
Tata Chemicals said operations at its Haldia facility have been disrupted as workers went on an indefinite strike.
The factory contractors and workers had signed a tripartite consensus on January 8, but later on workers came up with fresh demands and consensus could not be converted into a formal settlement leading to an indefinite strike by the workers, Tata Chemicals said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
"The workers union came up with fresh set of demands and as a consequence, the District Labour Commissioner referred the matter to Additional Labour Commissioner," the filing said.
The contract labour union was pressing for fresh demands to be incorporated in long-term settlement which were not subject matter of consensus signed on January 8 and the union served an indefinite strike notice on February 10, it said.
Besides, in another filing to the BSE, the company today said operations at the company's fertiliser plant at Babrala have been temporarily disrupted due to leakage in "Synthesis Converter".
The leaking converter would be put back into action within the next 4 months, the filing said.
Shares of Tata Chemicals today closed at Rs 288.35 on BSE, up 2.62 per cent from its previous close.
