Specialty chemicals to drive Tata firm's future growth
Tata Chemicals, expects future growth from specialty chemicals segment, Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry today said.
"Future growth will be from the specialty chemicals, but it will take time," he said while addressing shareholders at Tata Chemicals' Annual General Meeting here.
The company is planning to begin the trial run of its nutraceuticals plant in the next two months and start commercial production by December, Mistry said.
Nutraceuticals are food or food products that provide health and medical benefits, including prevention and treatment of disease.
Mistry said there is a need to focus on improving supply chain management of the company's `I-Shakti' pulses.
In FY13, leveraging on its extensive distribution network, Tata I-Shakti pulses grew by 26.6 per cent in volumes over the previous fiscal, making the product available across 21 States.
