NRL adds liquid nitrogen to product basket

GUWAHATI: Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited ( NRL) has added liquid nitrogen to its product basket.

The first tanker carrying liquid nitrogen (LN) of 99.95% purity was dispatched recently from NRL’s marketing terminal at Numaligarh to the premises of Assam Livestock Development Agency ( ALDA), a state government undertaking in Guwahati.

According to NRL, ALDA will use the liquid nitrogen for storing and transporting cattle semen for artificial insemination. This is to help boost milk yield among cattle, which in turn will bolster the state’s agricultural and animal husbandry sectors.

Liquid nitrogen has wide industrial applications viz in refrigeration industry, refineries, oil exploration, etc.
