MK Alagiri to review fertiliser policy

Concerned over the doubling of fertiliser prices within a year, ministry will examine the current policy on nutrient-based subsidy.

NEW DELHI: Concerned over the doubling of fertiliser prices within a year, chemicals and fertilisers minister MK Alagiri on Sunday said the ministry will examine the current policy on nutrient-based subsidy and plans to take up the issue with the Prime Minister.

Decontrol of prices in the case of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and potash in April, 2010 has led to the increase in prices.

Weakening of the rupee against the US dollar and a rise in global prices have also led to increase in the fertiliser prices in the last one year.
