HIL registers all-time record turnover

KOCHI: Public sector Hindustan Insecticides Ltd (HIL) here has achieved an all-time record turnover of Rs 193 crore during FY07, according to a top official.
As per the unaudited figures in 2006-07, the company registered a turnover of Rs 193 crore. On export of products worth Rs 20 crore in FY'07, the company mopped up a profit of about Rs 4.51 crore, HIL's Chairman and Managing Director K Harikumar told reporters here last night.
The company grew by 37 per cent even at a time when the market in general was stagnant, he said.
"HIL is a Rs 200 crore company and our vision is to take it to a Rs 500 crore company in five years.
"We are not looking at our capacity expansion of the existing products. We are looking at the new products which we can manufacture," he said.
Harikumar said HIL has started posting profits from 2006-07 onwards.
However, apart from posting profits, the company has also started exporting to various African countries eventually establishing itself as a leader in public health segment, he said.
At present HIL has three manufacturing units including the one at Udyogamandal here, Harikumar said.
HIL, which makes products like DDT, Malathion, Dicofol, Endosulfan and Mancozeb, has also introduced two new environment friendly pesticides, Mancozeb and Acephate, he said.
It also plans to enter the area of biotechnology for pest control.
