Guj requests Pawar to allocate fertilizers for farmers
The Gujarat government has requested the Union Agriculture Minister Shard Pawar to allocate 50 pc requirements of fertilizers for farmers from state-owned fertilizer plants.
Gujarat needs 9.25 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 3.35 lakh metric tonne of DAP (Die Ammonium Phosphate), and 90,000 metric tonne potas this year. Centre provides fertilizers to state every year, sources said.
The monsoon hit the North Gujarat on Saturday, besides Maharashtra, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and central Jharkhand.
The state-owned fertilizer plants are located in Vadodara, Bharuch, Hazira, Kalol and Kandla.
GSFC located on the outskirt of the city and GNFC at Bharuch. While IFFCO's plant located Kalol and Kandls are in cooperative sector and one plant is run by the Kribcho.
The allocations of fertilizers from these plants and elsewhere in the country to various state governments, is done by the union agriculture ministry.
