GACL sets up AAC plant at Dahej complex

Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has set up a anhydrous aluminium chloride plant (AAC plant) of 16,500 TPA at Dahej Complex.


AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has set up a anhydrous aluminium chloride plant (AAC plant) of 16,500 TPA at Dahej Complex.

The plant has been put on stream from November 20. It will consume 13,500 TPA chlorine at full load and provide flexibility in operation of the Caustic Soda Plant, a company release said here on Tuesday.

With the commissioning of the AAC plant, the company's share in the AAC market will increase from 12,000 TPA to 28,500 TPA.

The Anhydrous Aluminum Chloride product, commonly known as Fridel Craft Reagent, is used as catalyst in various chemical reactions mainly in dyes, colour, agrochemicals, fine chemical pigments, bulk drugs and pharmaceutical industries.

GACL exports anhydrous aluminium chloride to European and other markets. The Company also plans to increase its exports significantly with the commissioning of this new unit at Dahej.
