FIL launches new pesticide

SRINAGAR: Fungicides India Ltd (FIL), a subsidiary of Kohinoor Group of Industries, has launched a second generation anti-fungal and anti-scab pesticide under the brand name 'Governor'.

The pesticide, launched in collaboration with US-based Dupont here yesterday, is based on silicon and facilitates strong bounding to target scab causing enzyme for long-term control, FIL said in a release.

Horticulture being premier economic activity of thousands of orchardists and a source of livelihood to a large section of people in the valley has always invited FIL's focus, the release said.

Plant diseases like scab is a big threat to apple industry and timely application of pesticides is the only method to curb the disease and produce high quality marketable apple, it added.
