FACT launches new value added fertilisers

KOCHI: The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) is launching two more value added fertilizers. The fertilizer company had introduced two new products FACT Organic and Bio FACT earlier this month.

FACT has added zinc to its popular fertilizer Factamfos to give additional micro nutrients required by plants. This has been developed by the company���s research and development wing in association with its marketing division. FACT spokesman said when zinc is added to complex fertilizer, a single fertilizer satisfies both macro and micro nutrient requirement of plants.

The other product is the zincated gypsum, which is used as a soil conditioner and fertilizer for crops. Though gypsum was originally recommended for alkaline soil, it has been proved effective in acidic soil also. About 47 % of Indian soil is deficient in zinc and it has been found that crops like plantain, paddy, rubber etc in Kerala suffer from zinc deficiency.
