West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to kick-off construction of JSW Cement plant

KOLKATA: JSW group will soon start construction of a proposed 2.4 million tonne cement plant in West Bengal. The Rs 700-crore project being set up by JSW Cement will be inaugurated by chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday.

The event will also be attended by Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and MD of JSW Steel Ltd. The function being held in the run up to Bengal's big ticket event, the 'Global Business Summit' on January 8-9, 2016, is likely to be keenly watched by potential investors.

The cement project is expected to be ready for commissioning by the end of 2016. It is being set up on 150 acres out of more than 4,000 acres of land acquired by the JSW group nearly seven years ago for their proposed mega integrated steel cum power project at Salboni. The proposed 10 million tonne steel plant at Salboni remains stalled due to lack of iron ore linkages.
