Ultratech's O P Puranmalka elected president of apex cement group

NEW DELHI: Ultratech Cements whole-time director O P Puranmalka has been elected as the new President of apex industry body Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA) for 2013-14.

Puranmalka would replace M A M R Muthiah of Chettinad Cement, CMA said in a release today.

J K Lakshmi Cement whole-time director Shailendra Chouksey has been elected as the Vice-President of the 51-year old body.

CMA, which had its 52nd Annual General Meeting today, represents majority of the 350 million tonnes per annum Indian cement industry, the second largest in the world.

India's cement consumption in the last fiscal was around 260 million tonnes and is expected to reach to 280-285 million tonnes in the current fiscal, Chouksey said.
