Ultratech temporarily shuts down Awarpur cement plant
Ultratech Cement said it has temporarily shut down its Awarpur plant in Maharashtra due to workers' unrest.
"...the operations at the company's unit viz Awarpur Cement Works, Awarpur, Maharashtra, having a capacity of 3.6 mtpa has been temporarily shut down on account of stoppage of work by the workers," Aditya Birla Group's flagship firm said in a BSE filing.
The closure would not substantially impact company's financials, the filing added.
This is the for the second time that the Group is forced to stop production in just four days. On February 26, Hindalco Industries had announced a lock-out at Silvassa plant in Dadra and Nagar Haveli following continuation of workers' strike.
Ultratech has 12 integrated cement manufacturing plants in India and is the single largest cement maker in the country with an annual capacity of over 50 million tonnes.
