Lafarge invests Rs 100 cr in Rajasthan gypsum unit
Lafarge Boral Gypsum India says it is investing Rs 100 crore on a greenfield gypsum board production unit in Rajasthan.
"The gypsum board plant in Rajasthan will have a capacity of 10 million square metre with an investment of Rs 100 crore. It will be operational by the first quarter of next year," LBGI Project and Safety Manager Jeremie Rombaut said on the sidelines of a FICCI function here.
The new plant will help the company in expanding its portfolio in the Indian market which is estimated to be around 22 million square metres in terms of volume.
LBGI had earlier this year launched a new range of gypsum board products under the 'Lagyp' brand, which includes fire and moisture resistant boards, ceiling tiles, jointing compounds and other accessories.
LBGI is a 50:50 joint venture between construction materials group Boral Australia and cement maker Lafarge. Besides India, it has manufacturing sites in China, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.
