Investors abroad want Andhra Cement pie

Cement is fast becoming a favourite with global investors. Not only is the sector in India attracting hordes of global cement companies, financial investors too are flocking to Indian shores to cash in on the world’s second largest cement market.

The latest target seems to be Andhra Cements. The Duncans Goenka group company has plants in Vijaywada and Vishakapatnam with a combined capacity of 1.4mt. Intense speculation centres on a couple of foreign private equity players jostling for a stake in the company. Company officials, however, couldn’t be reached for their comment.
