GACL MD Anil Singhvi may put in papers

Gujarat Ambuja Cements head honcho Anil Singhvi, 47, is likely to resign from the Mumbai-based cement company on Friday when GACL’s board of directors meet to review the quarterly results.

MUMBAI: Gujarat Ambuja Cements head honcho Anil Singhvi, 47, is likely to resign from the Mumbai-based cement company on Friday when GACL’s board of directors meet to review the quarterly results.

Singhvi, the managing director of GACL, is also a director on the board of India’s largest cement company, ACC. Both GACL and ACC are controlled by Swiss cement major Holcim.

Mr Singhvi, however, dismissed news of his impending resignation as a rumour, “ It’s just a rumour, I haven’t quit GACL.” When was asked if he planned to quit on Friday, he said “There is always another day.” There is no clarity on who will take over the reins from Singhvi but it is likely to be a Holcim representative. —
