Cement despatches grows 9.98 pc in Apr, production up 10.06 pc

NEW DELHI: Cement despatches in India recorded a growth of 9.98 per cent at 18.06 million tonne during March, compared to the 16.42 million tonne reported during the corresponding month of last year.

The total cement production in the country during March 2009 was 18.04 million tonne, up 10.06 per cent over the figure of 16.39 million tonne reported during March 2008, the Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA) said in a statement.

The annual cement despatches for 2008-09 recorded a growth of 7.91 per cent at 180.95 tonne, against the figure of 167.68 tonne during 2007-08.

India also reported total cement production of 181.35 million tonne during 2008-09 fiscal, up 7.74 per cent from 168.31 during 2007-08, CMA added.
