Ambuja Cements on Monday announced an investment of Rs 14,500 crore ($1.53 billion) to expand its cement manufacturing capacity to 155 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by fiscal 2030.

The company, which currently has a capacity of 113.5 MTPA, expects this to increase to 119 MTPA by March 2027.

The expansion will add capacity across Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, strengthening Ambuja's manufacturing presence in eastern, western and northern India.

The investment comes amid capacity expansion across India's cement industry, as manufacturers look to cater to anticipated growth in infrastructure and housing demand.

The announcement follows Ambuja's report of a 34.7% decline in quarterly net profit, weighed down by higher fuel and freight costs.
