Ambuja Cements April shipments down 2.4% to 1.86 million tonnes

The company, in which Holcim holds about 46%, said production in April fell to 1.81 million tonnes from 1.91 million tonnes a year earlier.

NEW DELHI: Ambuja Cements today reported 2.4 per cent dip in April sales at 18.64 lakh tonnes ( LT) as compared to the same month last year.

The company had recorded 19.10 LT sales in April 2010, a company release said.

Ambuja Cements', in which Swiss major Holcim holds majority stake, production also declined during the reporting month at 18.13 LT against 19.07 LT in April last year.

Cumulative sales of the company during the January-April period, however, were up to 75.50 LT against 72.82 LT during the corresponding period an year ago.

Production increased to 74.03 LT, compared to 72.44 LT in January-April period of last year, it said.
