Zydus Cadila gets approval for Doxepin Hcl, to launch in 2020

AHMEDABAD: Ahmedabad-based Zydus Cadila has received tentative approval for Doxepin Hcl tablets from the US drug authorities. Cadila will launch the drug in 2020 after original drug maker's patent expiries.

According the company, the estimated sales in 2012 as per IMS for Doxepin Hcl, which falls in the neuropsychiatry segment, was $15.5 million.

It is scheduled to be launched in June 2020 upon patent expiry. On Wednesday, company announced the USFDA approval. Cadila Healthcare Ltd, the listed entity of Zydus Cadila Group, stock price was at Rs 765, showing a negligible fall of 0.03% during the market hours on Bombay Stock Exchange.

The group now has 77 approvals and has so far filed 172 ANDAs since the commencement of the filing process in FY 2003-04.
