USV's Daman facility gets FDA approval

USV Limited says its solid formulations facility at Daman has received US FDA approval.

MUMBAI: Drug maker USV Limited on Wednesday said its solid formulations facility at Daman has received US FDA approval.

The Daman facility was earlier approved by the National Agency for Medicines, Finland, for supplies to the European Union, the company said in a release issued here.

The Mumbai-based company, the largest player in anti-diabetic therapeutic segment in the country, has filed four ANDAs in the US through its affiliate company, Indicus Pharma LLc.

The company also already has a USFDA and TGA approved API facility at Chiplun and the company is the largest manufacturer and supplier of Metformin in the world.

Commenting on the USFDA approval, USV Limited's Managing Director Prashant Tewari said: "The approval for our formulations facility will further boost our plans for the US market."

On current developments in the company, he said: "For the global market, based on our strengths to be reliable supply chain partners, we look forward to working with both generic and innovator companies for the US and other regulated markets."

Exports currently contribute 33 per cent of the company's revenues and "we are looking at increasing its contribution further," he said.
