USFDA issues import alert against medicines made by Pan Drugs

The US health regulator has issued an import alert for the human and animal medicines made by Gujarat-based Pan Drugs Ltd for violation of manufacturing norms.

NEW DELHI: The US health regulator has issued an import alert for the human and animal medicines made by Gujarat-based Pan Drugs Ltd for violation of manufacturing norms.

According to information available on the United States Food and Drug Administration ( USFDA) website, the regulator has issued import alert on drugs, including anti-biotics, for both human and animals manufactured by the company for (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices violations.

Under the alert 66-40, the USFDA has the rights for detention without physical examination of drugs from firms which have not met drug GMPs.

Pan Drugs is a manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Last month, the USFDA had issued warning letter to India's second-largest drug maker Dr Reddy's relating to two of its API manufacturing plants and a formulation plant in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
