CHANDIGARH: United Spirits Limited, an arm of UB Group, on Tuesday said it expects to achieve a sales volume of 74 million cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor by the end of current fiscal in the country, as compared to 66 million cases sold during the last fiscal.

"Because of high growth in demand for white spirit and prestige segments among Indian consumers, we expect to sell 73-74 million cases by March 31, 2008," United Spirits Ltd Divisional Vice-President Dalip Garg told the media.

Dwelling upon the size of the market, he said that the IMFL market in India is pegged at 115 million cases during 2007, which exclude defence consumption and out of which 20 per cent is contributed by prestige segment.

With consumer entry point into spirits market is increasingly through prestige segment, the overall market grew by 33 per cent in 2006-07 over the previous year and a total of 64 per cent cumulatively over last 4-5 years.

United Spirits on Tuesday also announced the new look of its fastest growing brand 'McDowell's No. 1' in Punjab with a view to ramp up its share of prestige whisky market.

"McDowell's No 1 is one of the top focus brands at United Spirits. Significant investments to make the brand bigger and better are a reflection of our commitment to enthuse our consumer base and attract new franchise," United Spirits Business Head Mathew Xavier said here.
