National task force for Covid-19 to review use of Remdesivir

New Delhi: The national task force (NTF) for Covid-19 will review on Thursday the inclusion of remdesivir in the clinical management protocol, after interim results of the solidarity trial of the WHO have shown the drug is not effective in reducing mortality among patients.

The experts will also review evidence on anti-parasitic drug ivermectin. “The task force will review the overall Covid situation. Along with this, decisions on remdesivir and whether ivermectin should be included in the clinical protocol are also likely to be taken,” a person aware of the matter told ET.

Indian Council of Medical Research director general Balram Bhargava had told ET last week that clinical protocols would be updated after discussions with the NTF and the joint monitoring group.
