Syringe companies told to defer supplies as vaccination slows

In view of the current availability and estimated requirement of syringes for Covid-19 vaccination and Universal Immunisation Programme, it has been decided to postpone the supply schedule of syringes

The government has asked Indian syringe makers to hold up stocks of syringes by two months, as Covid-19 numbers recede and vaccination drive slows down. In an email dated February 14 to syringe makers, Central Medical Service Society told the manufacturers to postpone the supply of 0.5 to 3 ml syringes.

"In view of the current availability and estimated requirement of syringes for Covid-19 vaccination and Universal Immunisation Programme, it has been decided to postpone the supply schedule of syringes," the email said. ET has seen the email addressed to syringe makers.
