Sun Pharma gets USFDA nod to market generic Demadex tablets
Drugs manufacturer Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has said that US Food and Drug Administration has given permission to market generic version of Hoffman la Roche's Demadex, torsemide tablets pescribed for treating edema associated diseases.
Torsemide is a diuretic, indicated for the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, renal disease, or hepatic disease, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
These torsemide tablets have annual sales of approximately 35 million dollars (Rs 139.26 crore) in the US.
The company's abbreviated new drug application would be available in tablet form in 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 100 mg strength, it said.
Use of torsemide tablets has been found to be effective for the treatment of hypertension alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents, it said.
