Sun Pharma gets US nod for prostate cancer drug

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd said on Tuesday that it had received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to launch generic version of AstraZeneca Plc's prostate cancer drug Casodex.

BANGALORE: India's Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd said on Tuesday that it had received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to launch generic version of AstraZeneca Plc's prostate cancer drug Casodex.

The Indian drug maker said in a statement that AstraZeneca had annual sales of Casodex of $314 million in the United States.

Ahead of the announcement, shares in Sun Pharma rose 1.2 per cent to 1,143.35 rupees in the main Mumbai market that ended 0.9 per cent higher.
