Sun Pharma gets approval for Gemzar injection

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has received approval from USFDA for the abbreviated new drug application for its generic version of Eli Lilly and Co's Gemzar, gemcitabine injection.

MUMBAI: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has received approval from USFDA for the abbreviated new drug application for its generic version of Eli Lilly and Co's Gemzar, gemcitabine injection.

These generic gemcitabine injections are therapeutic equivalents of Eli Lilly's Gemzar injections available in two strengths: 200 mg and 1 g for single use vial. These strengths of gemcitabine injections has annual sale of $680 million in the US. Gemcitabine is an anticancer, used singly or in combination with other anticancer agents. On Wednesday, Sun Pharmaceutical shares closed up 5.25 per cent at Rs 1319 on BSE.
