Strides Shasun suspends production at Cuddalore unit block on govt orders

The pharma company said that the company is working with the authorities to resume operations at the earliest.

NEW DELHI: Drug firm Strides Shasun has suspended the production at its API facility at Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu as per Government orders.

"The company has temporarily suspended the production, as directed by the government authorities," the company said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange ( BSE).

It added that the company is working with the authorities to resume operations at the earliest.

It said, however, that the facility, which makes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), has been permitted to resume operations in all manufacturing production blocks except the new production block.

"There will be no material impact on the revenue of the group during the current financial year," the company said.

In an earlier filing Shasun had said that one worker died and another got injured in a fire accident on November 16, 2015 at new production block in the Cuddalore facility.

Shares of Strides Shasun were trading at Rs 1373.65 per scrip, up 0.80 per cent, on BSE at 02:00 pm.
