Ranbaxy seeks to sell drugs from new Mohali plant in US

Ranbaxy Laboratories has filed for US Food and Drug Administration's (USFDA) approval to sell medicines from its upcoming manufacturing unit in Mohali (Punjab).

New Delhi: India���s largest drugmaker Ranbaxy Laboratories has filed for US Food and Drug Administration���s (USFDA) approval to sell medicines in the US market from its upcoming manufacturing unit in Mohali (Punjab).

If the company gets the nod, it will be its fourth plant in India which can sell drugs in the world���s largest drug market. The Gurgaon-based company���s remaining three USFDA approved plants in the country are under the scanner from the US drug regulator for violating US manufacturing standards and fabricating information to sell drugs in the US market.

Ranbaxy CEO & MD Malvinder Singh said: ���We are developing a plant in Mohali and the filings to seek USFDA approval. We expect the approval from USFDA by the end of next year.��� Ranbaxy is setting up a manufacturing unit in the company���s SEZ in Mohali. It is expected to invest around a couple of hundred crores in the new facility.
