Ranbaxy launches cholesterol drug in SAfrica

Ranbaxy Laboratories, India's largest drugmaker by sales, said on Tuesday its unit had launched atorvastatin, generic form of Pfizer Inc's blockbuster Lipitor cholesterol fighter, in South Africa.

MUMBAI: Ranbaxy Laboratories, India's largest drugmaker by sales, said on Tuesday its unit had launched atorvastatin, generic form of Pfizer Inc's blockbuster Lipitor cholesterol fighter, in South Africa.

Ranbaxy, majority owned by Japan's Daiichi Sankyo, said the market size for the drug in South Africa was about $26 million.
