Paras looks to buy int’l OTC brands

Paras Pharmaceuticals iwants to acquire brands, or OTC companies, that would fit in with its growth plans.

AHMEDABAD: After conceiving blockbuster personal care and OTC brands such as Moov, Dermicool, Krack, D’Cold and Livon, Paras Pharmaceuticals is on the hunt. It wants to acquire brands, or OTC companies, that would fit in with its growth plans.

The company’s chairman Girish Patel told ET he is on the look out for possible foreign targets that include OTC brands or small companies with potential best-seller brands, either in India or abroad. “Money is not a problem.

We are an almost zero-debt company,” he said. Patel said Paras, which is a privately held firm, is already talking to consultants, though no deal is in sight yet. “We are interested in brands, in UK and Europe,” he added.

For years, Paras has concentrated on building brands and sub-brands in-house, and has produced some of India’s best-selling OTC products. Its product portfolio includes Borosoft, Afterbath, D’Cold, Dermicool, ItchGuard, Krack, Livon, Moov, etc.
