Orchid Chemicals gets USFDA nod for anti-bacterial tablets

NEW DELHI: Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals today said it has received approval from the US health regulator for generic Levofloxacin tablets, an anti-bacterial drug, in the American market.

The company has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for Levofloxacin tablets in the strengths of 250 mg, 500 mg and 750 mg, Orchid Chemicals said in a filing to the BSE.

The Chennai-based firm has presence across various therapeutic segments like anti-infectives, anti-inflammatory, central nervous system, cardio vascular segment, nutraceuticals and other oral and sterile products.

Shares of Orchid Chemicals today closed at Rs 190.20 on the BSE, down 1.50 per cent from previous close.
