Oral Contraceptives Booster to Lupin's US business
As per the IMS data, the total sales for branded and generic sales for the product stood at $ 361 million for the year ended December 2012.
The company last week informed of receiving the final approval for and launching its oral contraceptive drug Daysee, which is the generic version of Teva's Seasonique Tablets. The total sales for Branded and generic sales for the product stood at USD 161 million as per data from IMS for the year ended December 2012.
Lupin's business in the US, which contributes over 40% to its consolidated revenues, is receiving a further boost from the launch of oral contraceptives generics in the market. The company has approval for 11 contraceptive products in the US and it has already launched nine oral contraceptive products. The company is currently seeking approval from the US FDA for the generic version of Yaz.
The company is the fifth largest generic company in the US, the world's largest pharmaceutical market. The revenues from US business grew 49% for the nine months ended December 2012.
