NPIL gets product patent from US Patent & Trademark Office
Nicholas Piramal India on Monday said the US Patent and Trademark office has granted product patent to the company for compounds being developed for cancer treatment.
The company today informed the BSE that the granted claims of the patent cover the novel compounds, include the company's clinical candidate 'P-276-00' and processes for their preparation.
Earlier, the company had been granted a patent in South Africa for its Cyclin-Dependent Kinase (CDK) inhibitors. Nicholas Piramal has related national phase applications in 14 other countries. It has filed five other patent applications covering different aspects of its CDK inhibitors, it said.
"The presentation of data on pre-clinical studies at annual conference of American Society of Haematology marks an important milestone for development of NPIL's Oncology compound," Company's Director (Strategic Alliances & Communications) Swati Piramal said.
The shares of the company closed at Rs 316.05, down 1.22 per cent, at the BSE.
