Novartis gets DGCI nod to import diclofenac sodium

Drug maker Novartis Healthcare has received licence from the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) to import analgesic drug diclofenace sodium for testing purposes.

New Delhi: Drug maker Novartis Healthcare has received licence from the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) to import analgesic drug diclofenace sodium for testing purposes.

The company has got the approval for 65 kg of diclofenace Sodium Granules of strength 37.5 mg and 1.04 lakh tablets of Diclofenac Sodium from Switzerland.

Novartis has been granted the licence for a period of one year, however, it cannot use the drugs for commercial purpose or for carrying out trials on humans.

The company can also carry out trials in other places after getting the approval from licensing authority.
