INDORE: Fears that a top executive of pharma major Nicholas Piramal may have been abducted grew ominous when the police lodged a formal case of kidnapping, a week after he went missing.

With the police still groping for clues to trace Ashwini Bhatt, the president of the company's Pithampur plant near Indore, the city police on Thursday formally converted the missing person report into a case of kidnapping.

Mr Bhatt, who went to Gwalior to take part in a business meet ‘Exportech’, disappeared in mysterious circumstances while returning to Indore, along with his driver, on January 18. The wife and father of the executive have made emotional appeals that he should not be harmed.
