Natco to sell rare spinal disease drug Risdiplam for ₹15,900

Each bottle of Risdiplam lasts around 12 days and that will take the cost to roughly ₹30,000 per month for the patient. Sources said Roche sells Risdiplam on a discounted basis or one bottle free for each bottle purchased.

Mumbai: Drugmaker Natco Pharma has said it will price its rare disease drug Risdiplam used to treat spinal muscular atrophy at ₹15,900 per bottle, against ₹6.2 lakh per bottle charged by its innovator Swiss drugmaker Roche under the brand Evrysdi.

However, the launch of the Natco drug has been put on hold by an appellate bench of the Delhi High Court, Natco informed. Natco had challenged Roche's patent validity in India for the drug.

In March, a single bench had denied Roche's plea for an injunction against Natco's launch.

Natco said it has now received numerous enquiries from investors and patients about the launch, availability and pricing of generic version of Risdiplam in the Indian market.
