Generic drug company MSN Labs on Friday announced launching Posaconazole to treat the deadly black fungus both in the form of delayed-release tablets and injections.

The announcement comes at a time when India is witnessing an increased number of post-Covid-19 patients being detected with black fungus or mucormycosis and a shortage of antifungal medicines.

The Hyderabad headquartered pharmaceutical firm, which had earlier launched a set of antiviral drugs such as Favipiravir, Oseltamivir and Baricitinib, said it has developed both the active pharmaceutical ingredient and the formulation of Posaconazole being launched under the brand PosaOne.

MSN Labs said PosaOne was being launched in 100mg doses of delayed-release tablets and in 300mg doses of injections as a triazole antifungal agent indicated for treating mucormycosis patients.

The generic drug firm said it is, through a strong distribution network and field force across the country, targeting to reach out to the post-Covid-19 patients across the country now suffering from the deadly black fungus.

MSN Labs had earlier launched a Covid treatment portfolio of Favilow (Favipiravir) in the strengths of 200mg, 400mg and 800mg, Oselow (Oseltamivir) in 75 mg capsules and also obtained a voluntary license for Baridoz (Baricitinib) last week from Eli Lilly.
