Lupin to sell injectable iron in India

In a BSE filing, Lupin Ltd said "it has launched a novel Iron Isomaltoside 1000 injectable iron formulation under two brand names "Isofer" and "Jilazo" in India".

NEW DELHI: Drug firm Lupin today said it has launched in India a novel injectable iron formulation from a Danish firm under brand names "Isofer" and "Jilazo".

In a BSE filing, Lupin Ltd said "it has launched a novel Iron Isomaltoside 1000 injectable iron formulation under two brand names "Isofer" and "Jilazo" in India".

Lupin has acquired exclusive rights to market, distribute, sell the formulation from Denmark based Pharmacosmos A/S.

It further said: "The product is currently marketed in 33 countries, including 21 EU countries under the brand name Monofer."

Iron Isomaltoside 1000 is indicated to for treatment of iron deficiency when oral iron preparations are ineffective.

Shares of Lupin closed at Rs 1,460.15 per scrip, down 2.21 per cent, on BSE.
