Jubilant to raise capacities of chemical products

Pharmaceutical company Jubilant Organosys on Tuesday said it has increased the production capacity for two chemicals manufactured at its factory in Uttar Pradesh to meet the growing demand.

MUMBAI: Pharmaceutical company Jubilant Organosys on Tuesday said it has increased the production capacity for two chemicals manufactured at its factory in Uttar Pradesh to meet the growing demand.

The company has increased capacities of pyridines and picolines to 42,000 TPA at plant in Gajraula, UP, Jubilant said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.

"Our growth in the pyridines segment has been fuelled by increasing demand for our products in the global markets," Jubilant Chairman and Managing Director Shyam S Bhartia and Co-Chairman cum Managing Director Hari S Bhartia said.

Pyridine and its derivatives is one of the key growth areas for Jubilant in the pharmaceutical and life science products business. Currently, the company has more than 150 pyridine derivatives in its product portfolio.

In a further development, the company also announced the augmentation of its formaldehyde capacity in line with additional captive requirements.

The new capacities would come on stream by July 2008, until then the company would meet its balance requirements from domestic sources.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 305, up 0.63 per cent on the BSE.
