Johnson & Johnson ropes in Sumeet Salwan from Unilever as global consumer business HR head

Salwan, senior vice-president of HR at Unilever’s North American division, was considered among leading contenders to replace Doug Baillie.

MUMBAI: US pharmaceuticals giant Johnson & Johnson has hired Sumeet Salwan from Unilever as human resource head for its consumer products division, making him the only Indian in its current global management leadership team.

Salwan, senior vice-president of HR at Unilever’s North American division, was considered among leading contenders to replace Doug Baillie. Vibhav Dhawan, managing partner at Positive Moves Consulting who has worked with Salwan over the past two decades, said, “He optimally combines strategic thought leadership in human resources with the innate ability to execute and get things done.”
