ICAR inks pact with Celestial Labs for algal extracts
CMFRI today signed a pact with Celestial Biolabs for commercial production and marketing of Cadalmin Green Algal extract, a product that combats arthritic pain.
CadalminTM GAe contains 100 per cent natural marine bioactive anti-inflammatory ingredients from selected marine macroalga by a patented technology, an official release said.
The clinical trial-based studies revealed that more than 98 per cent of 400 patients suffering with chronic joint pain and arthritis were satisfied with the product as they saw 80 per cent relief in pain, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) said, adding that none of the respondents reported any side effects.
CMFPRI is part of the apex-farm research body Indian Council of Agricultural Research ( ICAR). Celestial Biolabs is into production and supply of biotechnological products.
Separately, ICAR has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pune-based voluntary body BAIF Development Research Foundation for research activities and transfer of farm technologies in the fields, the release added.
