Hetero receives drug controller approval for generic Daclatasvir

Daclatasvir in combination with Sofosbuvir is indicated for the treatment of Hepatitis C genotype 3 infections, which is highly prevalent in India.

MUMBAI: Hyderabad-based Hetero pharma said that drug controller of India has approved the generic version of Hepatitis C drug Daclatasvir, a move that would add to the company's armour of range of Hep C products including the generic version of Sofosbuvir. Daclatasvir in combination with Sofosbuvir is indicated for the treatment of Hepatitis C genotype 3 infections, which is highly prevalent in India.

This product is a generic version of Bristol-Myers Squibb's brand 'Daklinza' - approved by US FDA in July 2015. Daclatasvir is one of the direct-acting antivirals for hepatitis C treatment. "Research studies indicate that this drug enables the rapid decline of Hepatitis C virus. Daclatasvir is included the World Health Organization's List of Essential medicines," Hetero said in a statement.
