GSK enters into agreement with Japan-based Astellas Pharma

Drug firm GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals on Monday said it has enter into a collaboration with the Japan-based Astellas Pharma Inc for selling its anti-fungal injectable 'Micafungin' in the Indian market.

MUMBAI: Drug firm GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals on Monday said it has enter into a collaboration with the Japan-based Astellas Pharma Inc for selling its anti-fungal injectable 'Micafungin' in the Indian market.

As par the agreement, Astellas would grant exclusive marketing rights to GSK for Micafungin under the brand name 'Mycamine' in India, the company said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.

"Micafungin strengthens GSK's presence in intensive care. It also provides an excellent fit with oncology where GSK has a promising research and development (R&D) pipeline," GSK Pharmaceuticals Vice-President Ravi Limaye said in a statement.
