Govt to curb misuse of antibiotics in Ayurveda system

The government was considering a proposal for a legilsation to curb misuse of antiboitics and anesthesia in the Ayurveda system, an official of AYUSH said on Sunday.

UDUPI: The government was considering a proposal for a legilsation to curb misuse of antiboitics and anesthesia in the Ayurveda system, an official of AYUSH said on Sunday.

Speaking at the valedictory of the three-day international conference "Soushruthi-2007", AYUSH Director, Karnataka, B N Prakash said the Central Council of Indian System of Medicine (CCIM) should include the subjects of antibiotics and anesthesia in the curriculam both at under-graduate and post-graduate level in all Ayurvedic colleges in the country.

Dr Praksash said that there were equally more effective antibiotics and anesthesia medicine available in the Indian System of medicine. "What we need is a mind set to use these available medicines of anatibiotics and anesthesia and only in an unavoidable circumstances anesthesia and antibiotics available in modren system should be used."
