DRL, Torrent Pharma ink deal to tap Russian mkt

Pharmaceutical major, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (DRL) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd on Wednesday concluded an agreement for exclusive commercialisation of two brands Listril and Listril Plus in Russia.


MUMBAI: Pharmaceutical major, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (DRL) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd on Wednesday concluded an agreement for exclusive commercialisation of two brands Listril and Listril Plus in Russia.

Both the companies have concluded an agreement for exclusive commercialisation of two of Torrent's cardiovascular drugs - Listril (Lisinopril) and Listril Plus (Lisinopril HCTZ), used in the treatment of high blood pressure in Russia, DRL informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

This agreement offers the potential for immediate commercialisation of these two brands as they have already been registered in Russia and these two brands would add to the stable of cardiovascular drugs that Dr Reddy's is currently offering in Russia, it added.

This is the second agreement of this kind that Dr Reddy's has made with Torrent Pharma for the territory of Russia.

The first was related to licencing for Omez D (Omeprazole 10mg + Domperidone 10 mg, used to treat gastro-intestinal diseases like heartburn, dyspepsia and epigastric pain), a product, which would be launched in Ukraine and Kazakhstan in the short term, followed by Russia and Belarus.

The shares of the company were trading at Rs 736, up 1.83 per cent on the BSE.
