Dr Reddy's Laboratories launches generic anti-asthma drug in US market
Dr Reddy's Laboratories has launched its generic Montelukast Sodium oral granules used for treating asthma and seasonal allergies in the US market.
The launch was made on September 26 following approval by the United States Food & Drug Administration ( USFDA) of the company's abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Montelukast Sodium oral granules, Dr Reddy's Laboratories said in a statement today.
The product is a bio equivalent generic version of Merck & Co's Singulair (montelukast sodium) oral granules, it added.
Quoting IMS Health data the company said: "The Singulair oral granules brand had US sales of approximately $ 61 million for the most recent 12 months ending July 2012."
The company's Montelukast Sodium oral granules in the strength of 4 mg are available in unit dosage package of 30, it added.
Shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories today closed at Rs 1,622.35 on BSE, down 0.27 per cent from its previous close.
