Dabur gets approval for chemotherapy agent

Dabur Pharma says it has received a final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for its chemotherapy drug Epirubicin injection.

NEW DELHI: India's biggest anti-cancer drug maker Dabur Pharma on Wednesday said it has received a final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for its chemotherapy drug Epirubicin injection.

Epirubicin injections are a generic equivalent of Pfizer's Ellence injection, a chemotherapy drug used to fight early-stage breast cancer, Dabur Pharma said in a statement.

The drug has sales of approximately 60 million dollars in the US. The company would sell the injection in 50 mg and 200 mg dosages.

We are pleased to announce our third USFDA approval in the last one year. This bears testimony to the strong foundation that we are laying towards becoming one of the leading oncology players across the globe, Dabur Pharma Ltd CEO Ajay K Vij said.
