Chyavanprash biscuit coming for GenX

Ayurvedic cos have launched the popular health tonic as biscuits to make it popular among the the Gen-X.

KOCHI: To make medicinal mixtures palatable and convenient to take, ayurvedic companies are going from decoctions to capsules and now to biscuits to gain acceptability among the new generation. Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP), Coimbatore, has set the trend by launching the popular health tonic chyavanprash as Chyavana biscuits.

“Chyavana contains the usual ingredients of the chyavanprash plus what goes into the making of a biscuit so that it tastes like a real biscuit,” says P R Krishna Kumar, MD, AVP. “I'm targeting the export market too. To start with Chyvana biscuits will be taken to the Gulf market,” he adds. The company is planning to introduce other products in the same form.

Another Coimbatore-based ayurveda company Punarnava Ayurveda is planning to introduce ayurvedic biscuit. “The biscuit will contain all the essential ayurvedic ingredients and will have a sweet taste. We plan to market it as a
